Type: Contract to Hire | Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Please note that these are contract to hire roles. Candidates must be interested and eligible to work FULL TIME.
Conversion Salary: 40-70K based on experience.
Interview Process: Three interviews that are phone/virtual.
Candidate will be required to be onsite day one, and expected to work a hybrid schedule between onsite/remote.
• Top 3 skills: statistical analysis, logical analysis, coding
o Associate: experience doing analytical work. Logical (SQL preferred)
o Intermediate: some coding (using Python or R) (SQL preferred)
o Senior: Able to code in Python, R, and SQL.

The essential functions of this role are as follows:
• Helps the data science division translate business needs and challenges into the correct technical solution
• Provides mentoring and guidance to other, more junior Data Scientists and staff
• Act as a mentor and DS SME for other junior DS users and external stakeholders
• Engages with key business stakeholders on large projects and initiatives to understand their analytical and operational challenges and translate these needs into data solutions
• Assess the structure, content, and quality of the data through examination of source systems and data samples
• Basic understanding of cloud management and some experience in the development of infrastructure as code as well as application development
• Basic understanding of containerization and image management for data science notebooks
• Working knowledge of suppression/anonymization methods to ensure privacy standards are met
• Collaborate with other DS professionals, data engineers, and BI professionals around data/table structures to optimize the architecture, ETL procedures, dashboards, and other self-service needs
• Prioritize requirements and create rapid prototypes and minimally viable products for end-users
• Look for opportunities to improve current processes or find efficiencies by applying industry best practices as a DS professional
• Mines and analyzes data from state databases to drive insights into problems and efficiency in processes while maintaining the standards of organizational excellence
• Interprets data and from multiple sources using a variety of analytical techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation to data mining, to more complex statistical methodologies
• Use and monitor the input for code repositories like GitHub for code version control Provide end-user education for interpretation of business data
• Test and evaluate data solutions as it relates to upgrades to existing software Provides maintenance and support for existing data solutions for the agency
• Document and communicate technical specifications to ensure that proper techniques and standards are incorporated into deliverables and understood by the end-users
